Development of Memory Foam

March 24th, 2010

If you ever stopped to consider it, you would be amazed at the role that rubber and foam play in your everyday life. These materials feature all over your home, in the workplace and in your car. Perhaps the most likely place you will think of is the bedroom, where rubber and foam combine to make your nights more comfortable. The recent advent of memory foam is one which has been picked up by mattress manufacturers, and as with many everyday products, memory foam was initially designed by NASA engineers in the aircraft cushioning for space shuttles.

After analyzing its qualities, this foam was slowly introduced into sports and medical equipment, and it was later discovered how useful it was in mattresses after health experts noticed the improvement in the condition of patients who were in a bed-ridden state.

Thanks to hugely successful marketing campaigns by well-known companies, memory foam is a term that is now recognised the world over due to its widespread use in mattresses and pillows, but the people at Technical Foam Services are harnessing these properties in new areas beyond the bedroom. As foam suppliers, Technical Foam Services are constantly exploring new areas where their expertise in rubber and foam can help the manufacturing sector with their products. As a leading UK foam exporter with products are shipped all over the globe, we are at the forefront of engineered foam, which is why more and more people turn to them when they want the best foam producer to help and advise them.

Foam and Music Clarity

March 23rd, 2010

The next time you are listening to music, take a moment to appreciate how much foam and rubber are contributing to your experience. That crisp, clear sound you are hearing has a lot to do with foam and rubber, although you would never know it. To most of us, audio foams are little more than aesthetic items that cover microphones, speakers and headsets. Without the correct type of foam in place, you would hear all kinds of hisses and other annoying background noises. With this in mind, it becomes clear that the ability to produce this grade of high standard audio foam requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure the optimum performance.

As experienced foam manufacturers, Technical Foam Services has an enviable reputation as the leading UK foam exporter of specialist audio foams, spanning a wide range of stock and bespoke products. As well as making sure that you have a great experience when listening to your favourite music, Technical Foam Services offer a wide range of products which, without you even knowing it, will have an impact on your everyday life. Take your car, for example. Although the main body work is manufactured from metal, you would be amazed at how many foam products are contained within the vehicle. Technical Foam Services supply engineered foam to the automotive trade, so the next time you are driving your car and listening to music, the chances are the people at Technical Foam Services have played an integral role in making this experience possible.

Fire Retardant Foam

March 18th, 2010

Legislation regarding fire retardant foams has been in place for more than twenty years – since 1988 in fact – and throughout that time, UK foam exporter Technical Foam Services have been at the forefront of supplying not only fire retardant foams, but all kinds of rubber and foam solutions for a wide range of industries and business sectors. The legislation was brought into place following a series of tragic domestic fires where the materials used in the manufacture of furniture where found to have contributed to the severity of the blazes, which claimed many lives.

While the building and automotive sectors form their largest customer base for fire retardant foams, they also supply a wide range of other areas – from bedding manufacturers to those who build industrial machinery. You probably didn’t realise that foam which is fire resistant has to be used in many areas other than home furnishings, but this is certainly the case. Take your car as an example. The various pieces of foam and rubber which are used in the manufacture of vehicles have to be fire resistant for obvious reasons, and Technical Foam Services supply this and other types of foam and rubber to the automotive industry in Britain, across Europe and around the globe.

The potential applications for fire retardant foams are vast and there are many products which benefit from being produced from fire retardant foams.

Leading foam manufacturers Technical Foam Services are always at the helm of new developments in all areas of foam and rubber, including memory foam, slow recovery foams and neoprene, and we welcome the opportunity to work with our clients on new projects. We have successfully engineered foam for the purposes of being fire retardant, and our promise of quality makes us your ideal foam solution.

Making Sport Safer

March 16th, 2010

Whenever you see a cyclist these days, the chances are they will be wearing a helmet. This practice has grown in popularity over the last twenty years, and after initial resistance from some cyclists, it has been accepted that a helmet gives added protection in the event of a fall from a bicycle. The statistics back this up, and most cycling clubs will insist that their members use helmets which have engineered foam lining the outer shell.

The same is true for those taking part in cycle race – from the Tour de France right down to the local club race, all competitors must use a helmet. If they refuse, they will not be allowed to take part, it’s as simple as that.

This is yet another area where Technical Foam Services are present, as we manufacture the foam which lines the inside of cycling helmets – and they don’t just stop at providing safety elements for cyclists. In all kinds of sports and other walks of life, you will find foam and rubber being used in the protective clothing. Take the knee and elbow protectors used by skate-boarders and roller skaters, for example. These items of clothing will also contain rubber and foam which has been designed and manufactured by us at our headquarters in Corby, Northamptonshire.

As one of the major foam manufacturers, we offer a wide range of products to industries right around the globe. Whether it is slow recovery foams, shaped foams, rigid foams or neoprene, Technical Foam Services can help businesses reach their goals.

From Rubber To Sponges

March 10th, 2010

As well as supplying foam and rubber solutions to businesses, Technical Foam Services also supply natural sponges for use in the home or in an industrial setting. Sponges are used in a vast array of cleaning activities, from gently washing a tiny baby to scrubbing the kitchen floor, and Technical Foam Services offer a wide range of sponges in every imaginable shape and size to suit practically any purpose.

Leading foam manufacturers Technical Foam Services are one of the biggest importers of natural sponges, but what exactly makes these sponges ‘natural’?

The natural sponge is gathered by divers or dredging ships, and are prised from the sea floor and later dried in the sun. After any impurities have been washed out of the natural sponge, it is ready to be sold as a wholesome natural product. Until the mid-1700’s, the texture and appearance of the natural sponge lead many observers to believe that they were plants. Zoologists eventually dismissed this theory, re-classifying the sea sponge as a simple multi-cellular, bottom-dwelling animal called Porifera, which means ‘pore-bearing’ and refers to the many tiny openings or holes visible on all sponges. There are three additional sub-species of Porifera: the Calcispongiae, the Hyalospongiae, and the Demospongiae. The natural sponge is found in every ocean and can thrive in not only shallow waters, but the deepest regions of the seas. Scientists have identified approximately 5000 species of sponges thus far.

These sponges are extremely invigorating for cleaning uses, as their soft surface is gentle to the skin. At leading foam suppliers Technical Foam Services, we supply natural sponge sourced directly from the sea, so you can be sure you’re receiving genuine quality every time.

Magic Cleaning Product

March 4th, 2010

If you are the sort of person who likes to keep the home sparkling clean, you will probably be aware of the so-called magic sponge. This is manufactured from melamine foam, and this material’s unique properties have earned it widespread recognition in the consumer market over the past few years.

Recognised for its magic performance in removing dirt and stains across a wide range of domestic applications, the market for melamine products for the home is increasing at a rapid rate.

As one of the leading foam suppliers and innovators in this field, Technical Foam Services is the supplier of many household brands and high street retailers, including Oven Pride and Halfords, who market it as The Great White Sponge.

This is just another example of how we at Technical Foam Services reach into just about every aspect of peoples’ lives with our products, which range from basic rubber and foam solutions right through to engineered foam, Jiffycell and Visco memory foam. We provide engineering solutions to businesses all over the world who use rubber and foam in their products, and even if you need foam cut to size, we can help with this as well.

Melamine is described as magic due to its ability to remove a range of marks and spills without the need for harsh detergents, but in reality there is no magic involved in this process. Melamine sponge foams have a unique structure that differs from other foams, such as polyurethane and polyethylene foams, and posses unique cleaning and absorption characteristics, without using powerful detergents or other chemicals.

March 2nd, 2010

Whatever business you are involved in, you will probably find that Technical Foam Services will be able to help you in some way. Many of our clients use foam or rubber in their manufacturing process, and this is the main area where the expertise of the staff at our Corby based company is used.

We are able to advise and build specialised engineered foam for your business, but even if you are not involved in the foam or rubber business, you may find that our services will be of use to you at one stage or another, simply because everyone needs packaging for their products.

Established in 1990, we at Technical Foam Services have been supplying a diverse range of foam packaging solutions for a broad spectrum of businesses in Britain, across Europe and around the globe. Our twenty years of valuable experience undoubtedly make us one of, if not the most suitable company to use when you require foam products.

The one point worth bearing in mind if you are running a business is that whilst you may have the best product on the market, if the packaging doesn’t appeal to consumers – or, more importantly, it doesn’t offer the right level of protection to ensure the product can be transported and stored safely – then it will never fulfill its potential. So why risk losing out?

Talk to the people who know all about packaging, and we will be able to help you make the most of your product. In addition to this, leading foam manufacturers Technical Foam Services also provide closed cell foams, open cell foams, PU foams and foam cut to size, so if you have any need for these products, talk to the experts!
