Fun in the Water with Foam

Foam is the perfect material for making water-based products as it has millions of tiny little air holes that make it practically unrivalled in terms of buoyancy.

Buoyancy & safety
Many children’s swimming aids are made from closed cell foams as, unlike inflatable products such as arm bands or rubber rings, there is absolutely no chance of them developing a puncture and deflating. This can provide great peace of mind for parents as they can be sure their children will not come to any harm while enjoying their swim.

Learning & development
In addition to children’s buoyancy aids, closed cell foams are also used to make more advanced swimming development aids such as kickboards and pull buoys. These development aids are typically used by people in swimming clubs who need to work on improving their stroke and overall technique.

Play & activities
There are also many other swimming related foam products available. Easily the most popular amongst children are the very large mats that get launched into the water at the end of a swimming lesson when they have behaved well enough to deserve a treat. These are essentially just huge rectangles of foam that large numbers of kids can climb onto, try and balance on and then inevitably fall off of until they get too tired to carry on. Additionally, foam woggles or ‘noodles’ are bendy, brightly coloured buoyancy aids that can be used either as additional learning devices for swimming teachers or more commonly for aqua-aerobics classes.
