Learn to Surf with Foam
Now that summer is finally here, holidaymakers will once again be making their way down to Devon and Cornwall in their droves. When the sun is shining, the south-west of the country offers everything you could possibly want on your holidays: sandy beaches, cream teas, dramatic scenery, surfing…
Wait a minute – did you say surfing?
Strange as it may seem, surfing has taken off in a big way in this part of the country, with places like Newquay, Perranporth and Croyde receiving scores of wannabee surfers every year. However, surfing is not for the faint-hearted and it takes a certain amount of endeavour just to get to grips with the basics. Thankfully, using foam surfboards can help to make the learning process much more enjoyable.
Foam surfboards are known as “softies” because they are made from materials that will reduce the impact of any falls. They are perfect for beginners as their core is made from a range of extremely buoyant shaped foams that ensures greater support on the water. And, because softies are also much longer and wider than normal surfboards, they are also far easier to balance on and pick up the basics.
So, if you are one of the many holidaymakers heading down to the south-west this summer, make sure you pack colourful board shorts, rubber flip-flops and a lazy disposition. Throw in a few days on the ocean with your foam surfboard and you too can return to your hometown as a fully-fledged surf dude!
