Conversion Facilities

As the leading UK-based foam supplier, at Technical Foam Services we pride ourselves on offering customers the widest conceivable choice of foam products.

We work on the ethos that if a customer needs a rubber or foam product, we will do everything in our power to design, develop and make it for them, however unusual or complicated it may be!

This is why we hold in excess of 300 foam grades in stock at all times, so when a customer approaches us we can be sure that we will have a suitable material for their product that will offer the optimum performance, quality and value for money.

But, while the high standard of the materials we use is paramount, they are only the foundation of a good product. The deciding factor in performance is the processes used to manufacture the end product.

At Technical Foam Services we operate truly state-of-the art conversion facilities at our Corby headquarters, where we hold one of the most extensive ranges of processing machinery in the industry.

Machinery for every application

Depending on the foam material used, the size, the quantity and, of course, the final application for the product, there is a wide range of processes that can be applied to produce the optimum product for your individual needs.

To ensure that we can offer the widest range of final product options, we operate a vast range of different machinery in our conversion facilities to meet the varied needs of our customers in different industry sectors.

These include cutting machinery such as:

  • Die-cutting
  • Water-jet cutting
  • Hot-wire cutting
  • Deflection cutting
  • Kiss cutting
  • Egg-box profile cutting

  • Drilling
  • Routing

We also offer a multitude of shaping and finishing processes, including:

  • Thermo moulding
  • Grinding
  • Transfer Printing
  • Embossing
  • Adhesive coating
  • PVC coating
  • Fabric laminating
  • Ultrasonic welding
  • Flow-line wrapping
  • Sewing

Custom conversion machinery and processes

We constantly update our machinery to stay at the cutting edge of foam conversion and maintain our position as the leading foam manufacturer. But, we also understand that there are some products for which "standard" machinery will just not do the job.

At Technical Foam Services If we don't have a machine that can manufacture the products you need, we'll build one!

We never see problems, only challenges, and with an in-house team of experts in our engineering department, we can design and build bespoke machinery to meet your precise requirements.

Not sure which processes you need?

Don't worry. As experts in foam manufacturing and processing across a multitude of industries around the world, we can advise you on the best and most economical options for your individual needs, based on the product, size, quantity and end-use.

All we ask is that you give us as much information as possible about the product you are looking for and we'll do the rest.

Working with major European suppliers

We at Technical Foam Services receive our raw foam from various suppliers, of whom we have excellent working relationships. Many of these suppliers are major European manfucturers, including Recticel, Foam Partners, Sekisui Alveo and Vitafoam.

Foam comes in various different shapes, textures and degrees of hardness, so it's important that our team knows their game and in doing so, selects the right foam for each individual job. We work with flexible foams, foam blocks, foam rolls and foam sheets; the choice of which depends on the product we are producing.

Expanded our view

We are forever scouring new avenues to find our foam, and recently began looking to the Far East for the materials produced there. To assist this project we have sent a team to Taiwan where they are actively sourcing new foams.

Our flexible foams are used especially for bath sponges, washing up sponges, car sponges and even baby sponges. This has to be flexible foams otherwise you'd scratch your arms and end up with disastrous scratches all over your car, which is why we ensure that our service is second to none.

We contour the shape from the flexible foams, then buff, profile and laminate them with nylon to your preference.

Making it our business to be at the leading edge

Our flexible foams come in foam blocks. Our close links with the foam blocks manufacturers ensures that we are always at the leading edge in being able to offer new types of flexible foam sponge to the market.

From these foam blocks we are able to cut, mould and shape products to practically any specification.

Exact precision

Due to our state of the art engineering department, we are able to easily cut shapes from foam blocks, foam rolls and foam sheets with exact precision.

Tom, who leads our engineering team of highly skilled and precise workmen, are all perfectionists and will accurately cut foam shapes and designs from foam rolls and foam sheets. Cutting foam from such mediums as foam blocks, foam rolls and foam sheets is simply part of a day's work for Tom and his team because of the level of expertise they possess when cutting from foam rolls and foam sheets.

Different reasons will decide which machine is used

Many different reasons will determine which machines we use to produce your orders, such as the material required, the size, the finished shape, and the quantity to mention but a few.

From the outset of working with you, we ask you to provide us with as much information as possible to ensure that we can make the most suitable decision in the most effective and economical way to utilise our machines to produce your parts.

Welcome to our world

We welcome you to our world at Technical Foam Services. It's an exciting world where we are all dedicated to every job, big or small. Formed in 1990, we are widely recognised throughout the European foam industry as being the most innovative, engineering biased and customer led industrial foam convertor within the UK.
