Melamine foam - widely recognised under its trade name Basotect - is a low-density, open-cell polymer material, which offers specific benefits in certain applications, particularly where sound absorption, fire retardancy, and heat and chemical resistance are required in a flexible, lightweight material.
As such, melamine foams are now widely used in insulation and acoustic foam applications, although in more recent years the material has also been widely adopted in the cleaning sector where it is now more commonly referred to as "Magic sponge" for its ability to remove marks and stains without the need for cleaning agents.
