TFS is the first UK foam converter to achieve three ISO standards
by Duncan Geddes
Here at Technical Foam Services, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve been granted all three International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards. Not only have we been awarded the ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, but we are the first UK-based foam converter to do so.
We have been awarded the standards for prioritising the health and wellness of our staff, delivery of high-quality products and for our approach to environmental consciousness. Attaining all three has been so important to us, as they cover the three most crucial aspects of a successful and ethical SME business.
Established in 1946, ISO’s standards are internationally recognised and set by experts. The organisation has a membership of 165 national standard bodies – making it global, reliable and authoritative. In order to determine if a business meets the standards, ISO will assess, test and inspect any relevant aspects of your operations to ensure you conform to their grade. That’s what they did with us, and that’s how we passed!
- ISO 45001, the standard for Occupational Health and Safety, covers improving employee safety, reducing risk in the workplace and demonstrating support for staff well-being – including their mental health.
- ISO 9001 is the standard for Quality Management – having this certificate showcases the high quality of our foam products. Here at TFS, we deliver consistency, durability and precision across all our foam products.
- ISO 14001 is Environmental Management Systems, which we were awarded for our dedication to protecting our environment for the long-term.
We have held the ISO 9001 standard for over ten years and the ISO 14001 standard for the last four. This summer we acquired the ISO 45001 standard, marking our steady progression over the years and showcasing our strengths.
I view this is as the ultimate hat-trick and am so proud of the team here at TFS, all of whom have committed to these standards of working. Led by our Quality and Health and Safety Manager, David Hood, we have not only demonstrated that we can manufacture our products to the highest standards while upholding the ethics of our business model, but we have set the standards for the industry in the UK – being the first foam converter to acquire all three!
